Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 and was the child of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is part of the Robertses' fourth generation who live in the Atlanta region, beginning by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. She inherited her father's interest in theater from a young childhood. He was a part of stage on the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force in 1953. During his time working in Biloxi Mississippi, he was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in the air force. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first child, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they had a break from the military and Walter started studying at Tulane. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and moved to Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they themselves funded. They later founded the Actors and Writers Workshop which continued for six seasons. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also also known as Lisa) and Julia (also called Julie) throughout this time.
