Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at an Olympic event. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi later the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was six years old. She first competed in the national junior championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She was the winner in 1970. In 1972, at an event for communist-controlled countries' junior athletes before the Olympics she won 3 gold and silver medals. In 1973 and '74 she was the all-around junior champ. In her very first competition at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals aswell as one silver. She was the first woman to perform the reverse double salo of the bar with a parallel surface after winning the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens, she began performing in travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol's first job was in entertainment as a teenager. When she was a child she started her career as the figure skater alongside Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. They featured staged ice skating shows.
