Then the strike, thousands of students embraced the movement #FridaysforFuture. They stayed home on Friday to demonstrate against the effects of climate change. In 2019 climate campaigners around the world joined together to coordinate the first Global Strike for Climate. It was an enormous success. There were more than 1.6 million participants across more than 125 countries took part.
